The Assistant Director of Greek Life, reporting to the Director of Greek Life, is primarily responsible for Samford’s fraternity and sorority student community. The position will serve in an advisory role over one or more of the three Greek councils at Samford. This position will also work closely with Samford fraternity/sorority alumni and inter/national organization leadership to promote a values-based fraternity and sorority experience for the campus community.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Advisement – Advise of one or more fraternity/sorority councils on campus. Oversee and assist in advisement of chapter officers (6 Panhellenic, 5 IFC, and 3 NPHC). Travel with council leaders to annual and/or regional leadership conferences. 
  • Communication - Create and maintain communication with chapter advisors and inter/national headquarters staff through regular email updates, meetings, and trainings. Coordinate efforts and encourage involvement in educational programming initiatives. Meet with inter/national Headquarters staff (or national volunteer officers) when appropriate. Ensure all published information is current, updated regularly, and grounded in best practices. 
  • Programming - Manages aspects of both Panhellenic and IFC formal recruitment and NPHC intake. Assists with providing educational programming, leadership development, and involvement opportunities for members of the sorority/fraternity community.
  • Operations and Administration- assist with daily operations and administration of the Office of Greek Life including implementing departmental goals based on the strategic plan, and marketing and communication efforts. Coordinate annual events associated with Greek Life such as Greek awards, retreats, and large-scale programming. Oversee event registration system to ensure risk management, campus and national policies are followed. 
  • Collaboration - Work collaboratively with advisors, colleagues, staff, and faculty on tasks and programs as related to the Office of Greek Life. Performs other duties as assigned, including but not limited to social media, marketing, events, recruitment, and assistance with large council and departmental programs.

 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of experience; OR, Master’s degree and one (1) year of experience

  • Experience leading fraternities and/or sororities. 

  • Experience with programming planning, advisement, leadership training, and event management.
     
  • Outstanding written, verbal and technological/social media communication skills.
  • Undergraduate membership in an Inter/National Greek-letter organization
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, College Student Personnel or related field.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience in a higher education setting in student programming, advising Greek student groups and organizations, or other student-oriented activities.
  • Experience developing learning outcomes and conducting assessment of learning outcomes and program objectives.
  • Experience with software programs, including Chapter Builder, Campus Director, and Presence.
  • Interest in developing a premier fraternity and sorority experience on a Christian campus.
